Well, I can officially tell you that the name of the sequel to That Kiss is That Promise. I am so excited for you all to read them both! I don’t have a release date yet but my cover reveal day should be coming soon. Keep checking back to get updates!
Well, the picture for the cover has been chosen and now it’s time to write the author bio. CreateSpace was nice enough too write a bio, marketing text and back cover text for me but it wasn’t quite me so I tweaked it a bit and I’m pretty happy with it now. I don’t yet have a release date for That Kiss but you will be the first to know when I do. You’ll also be happy to know that I have begun the same process with the sequel. I have read and re-read it over and over again and I think it’s my best edition so off it goes, hopefully tonight. Wish me luck!
I have been in contact with CreateSpace again, discussing the visual aspects of my first book. Erin showed me a few of her suggestions as to what might look good on the cover but ultimately, the perfectionist in me decided to look around for just the right photo. She gave me the website they use for royalty-free pictures and hours upon on hours later, I finally found it. It’s beautiful and just the look I was going for. She also helped me pick out the font for the body, the chapter headings and the front title. I will have a second consultation with my design team this week. It’s finally getting real!
I just got an email from CreateSpace. They have set up a time to talk with me over the phone about my ideas for the cover of book one. I can now officially tell you the title of my first book, which is “That Kiss.” There is a sequel coming very shortly after the first one as I am publishing both at the same time. I hate waiting what seems like a lifetime for the next book in a series to come out, only to have forgotten what went on in the prequels. Also, I was informed that my manuscript was sent off today to be edited and I can tell you that I’m biting my nails already. These books have truly been a labor of love and I’m so nervous that the editor is going to rip them apart. I know that criticism is a good thing and I’ll take it like a big girl but it’s hard because I think of them as my babies and why would someone ever want to change one single word? Hopefully it is so perfect that there will be no edits and my fragile ego will remain intact. (Wake up Kate! lol) Unrealistic, I know but hey, a girl can dream, right?
I am so irritated! I am trying to build up my followers on Twitter so every single person who follows me counts. I love seeing what everyone is talking about and I hope you all like my posts as well. I don’t have many followers yet so it’s easy to keep track of who is hanging in there with me. I just can’t stand when someone follows me and I follow them back out of politeness, and then suddenly, they’re unfollowing me! How rude! If that is the way you want to build up your followers then that’s fine but I don’t think it’s necessary or nice by any stretch of the imagination! Grow a set! I am sorry to all of you that follow and keep following, you all are wonderful. I’m just talking to the idiots who obviously need to learn some manners! >:(
I finally plucked up the nerve to send my finished manuscript off to CreateSpace for editing and whatever else they do there! I am so grateful to my consultant, April for all of her help. After answering question after question about my book, I was eventually forced to either put up or shut up. I clicked send and squealed in apprehension, nervousness, and delight. Within a matter of a month or two, I will officially be a published indie author of not one, but two fantastic books! If you are reading this, please come back frequently for updates on my progress. Thanks to all that have helped and supported me along the way!
I just got off the phone with my personal rep from CreateSpace and I feel very confident. April gave me some great advice on what services I’m going to need/want for my book(s). I have just created an LLC. It’s basically a type of business. There are many different types and I’m not sure what the differences are but this one is the best set up for me. My next step will be setting up a business account at my local bank. This week sometime, I will be starting the actual act of getting my book in print. This is one of the scariest things I’ve ever done because while I know my books are really good, I don’t know if they will get enough attention from the masses. Word of mouth is the best thing a book can get and I just pray that mine gets a lot! I think I could’ve already had most of this stuff done but the one thing that is stopping me… is me. Cross your fingers, here we go!
