When I was getting started, before my first book was done, I was exploring a whole new world of unknown territory. Going through the steps to get my manuscript in print was a daunting task and with an endless amount of information out there, it can be overwhelming. In my search for information, I wished that I could ask someone who had already been through it for some advice. Then a thought occurred to me, why can’t I just ask? I am following a few of my favorite authors on Facebook and Twitter so I decided to private message them all. Some of their pages didn’t offer the ability to message them privately but three of them did. I composed a simple email message to each of them, asking what advice they could offer me to aid in my quest. I sent them around 8:00am and to my surprise, by 2:00pm that same day, one of my now favorite authors emailed me back! I was so excited and even teared up a bit. She didn’t just send me a quick reply either. Her message to me was quite lengthy actually, and full of great stuff. There was one thing she said that I didn’t understand so I thanked her for emailing me back and asked her to clarify. To my amazement, her next reply was just as long as the first one! She explained what I didn’t understand and wished me luck. I try not to bother her but have emailed her once or twice again since that first correspondence and each time she goes out of her way, despite her busy schedule to reach out and help this starving artist. I can never repay her for her generosity but have vowed to pay it forward. When I finally realize my dream of becoming a best selling author, I will answer each and every private message that comes across my computer screen. I will try and help anyone who asks me for advice because she helped me first. I don’t want to divulge her name unless she approves but JP if you are reading this, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. If we ever meet someday, I hope you won’t be offended (or freaked out) if I offer to buy you a cup of coffee. To me, you are a hero and a wonderfully kind woman. I just wanted to say how much I appreciated what you did for me, God bless you and may all of your books a hit the top of the charts!
PS. I just got permission to tell you which author I am referring to in this blog. It’s none other than JENNIFER PROBST! She has written so many great books! Honestly, when I looked up how many she’d written, I was shocked. I had no idea she had so many out there. In my own collection I have the following: The Marriage Bargain, The Marriage Trap, The Marriage Mistake, (The Marriage Merger <–I still need that one), Beyond Me, Searching For Someday, and coming in April 2014, Searching For Perfect! There are many more but those are the ones I can personally tell you are awesome! Please consider reading/buying her books. Not only is she a very talented writer, she the nicest person! <3 http://www.jenniferprobst.com/
